Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Drain fat.
  3. Add onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Prepare mashed potatoes with butter, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread meat mixture in a casserole dish. Sprinkle peas over top.
  7. Layer mashed potatoes on top. Smooth with a spatula.
  8. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over mashed potatoes.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
