Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 cups frozen hashbrowns
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned; drain excess fat.
  3. In a bowl mix soup sour cream salt and pepper.
  4. Layer half the hashbrowns in the baking dish then the beef mixture then spread soup mixture on top.
  5. Top with remaining hashbrowns and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes then uncover and bake 15–20 minutes more until golden and bubbly.
  7. Cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Swap in cream of chicken or cheddar soup if preferred.
  • Add chopped veggies for extra color and nutrients.
  • Brush melted butter on top for crispier texture.
  • Freeze leftovers or prep ahead and bake later.
