Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onion (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, and 1 tsp cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 2 minutes, then transfer to ice water.
  3. In a bowl, mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, water, and 1 tsp cornstarch. Stir well.
  4. Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Stir-fry beef until browned and nearly cooked. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add more oil to the wok, sauté garlic and ginger briefly, then add blanched broccoli.
  6. Return beef to the wok, pour in the sauce, and stir until everything is coated and the sauce thickens.
  7. Finish with sesame oil and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Slightly freeze beef before slicing for thinner cuts.
  • Don’t overcook broccoli to keep it crisp and green.
  • Add chili flakes for a spicy twist.
  • Use tamari for a gluten-free option.
