  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs (for coating)
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (for waffles)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs (for waffles)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken tenders in buttermilk with salt and pepper for 30 minutes.
  2. Whisk waffle batter ingredients: flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, eggs, milk, and melted butter. Let rest.
  3. Mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Beat eggs in another bowl.
  4. Coat chicken in flour, then egg, then back in flour for a thick crust.
  5. Fry chicken in hot oil until golden and cooked through. Drain on rack.
  6. Preheat waffle maker and cook waffles until golden and fluffy.
  7. Serve waffles topped with chicken and drizzle with warm maple syrup.
