Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cube steaks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour (for gravy)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup milk (for gravy)
Instructions
- Set up dredging bowls: one with seasoned flour and one with eggs and milk.
- Dip steaks in flour, egg wash, then back in flour. Let rest 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a skillet and fry steaks 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
- For gravy, remove excess oil, melt butter, and whisk in flour to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in broth and milk. Simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve steaks hot with gravy poured over top.
Notes
- Let breaded steaks rest before frying for better crust.
- Use buttermilk in egg wash for tangier flavor.
- Bake instead of fry for a lighter option.
- Reheat in oven or skillet to keep crust crisp.
