- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)
- Powdered sugar (for topping)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Cut bread into cubes and let dry out for a few hours or overnight.
- Whisk eggs milk cream sugars cinnamon nutmeg vanilla and salt in a large bowl.
- Add bread cubes to custard mixture and stir gently to coat.
- Grease a 9×13 baking dish with butter and pour in the mixture.
- Let sit 10–15 minutes or cover and chill overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes.
- Cool slightly then dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
