Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form patties and sear in butter over medium heat, 3 minutes per side.
  4. Place browned patties in a greased baking dish.
  5. Sauté mushrooms in butter in the same skillet.
  6. Add flour and stir for 1 minute, then whisk in broth until smooth.
  7. Stir in cream, simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  8. Pour gravy over patties and bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes.

Notes

  • Add Worcestershire sauce to the gravy for extra depth.
  • Substitute turkey for a lighter version.
  • Use sour cream instead of heavy cream for tanginess.
