One busy weekday I wanted a comforting pasta dinner but didn’t have time to stand over the stove so I added chicken, cream, and a few simple ingredients to my slow cooker and hoped for the best. Hours later the kitchen smelled like heaven and when I stirred in the cooked fettuccine the sauce was silky and rich with tender bites of chicken throughout.
Now slow cooker chicken alfredo is one of my favorite hands-off meals and it’s creamy flavorful and satisfying without any fuss and it’s perfect for when you want something indulgent but don’t have time to cook from scratch.
Ingredients
- Here’s what I use for this recipe. You can always make substitutions if you prefer!
- Boneless skinless chicken breasts – The main protein that cooks tender and juicy in the slow cooker
- Heavy cream – The base of the creamy Alfredo sauce
- Butter – Adds richness and helps thicken the sauce
- Garlic – Adds depth and savory flavor
- Parmesan cheese – Gives that classic salty nutty flavor and melts into the sauce
- Fettuccine pasta – Traditionally used in Alfredo and perfect for holding the creamy sauce
- Salt and pepper – To season and enhance the flavors
- Parsley – For a fresh pop of color and finish
Tools You’ll Need
- Slow cooker – To cook the chicken and sauce low and slow
- Knife and cutting board – For prepping the chicken
- Measuring cups and spoons – For accuracy in the sauce
- Whisk – To help mix the sauce smoothly
- Saucepan – To cook the pasta separately
- Tongs or spoon – To toss everything together before serving

Instructions
Step 1:
I start by placing the chicken breasts into the bottom of the slow cooker and seasoning them with salt, pepper, and minced garlic
Step 2:
Next I pour the heavy cream and add the butter on top and I cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender
Step 3:
About 20 minutes before serving I cook the fettuccine according to the package directions and drain it well
Step 4:
Once the chicken is done I shred or cube it inside the slow cooker and stir in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy
Step 5:
I then add the cooked pasta directly to the slow cooker and toss everything together until well coated
Step 6:
Right before serving I garnish with chopped parsley and extra cheese if I’m feeling fancy
Tips
Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best melt and flavor
Don’t overcook the pasta or it might become mushy when stirred in
If the sauce is too thick add a splash of milk to loosen it up
Ways to Serve
Serve with garlic bread or a crisp Caesar salad for a complete meal
Add steamed broccoli or peas for a veggie boost
Top with grilled shrimp or crispy bacon for a twist
